Upper Echelon is Charles Calvet’s second single to be released since his debut in 2017, when he made a splash in the Bay Area by becoming the first performer to ever perform in Stanford University’s stadium. “I’ve been following Zedd since he and Porter Robinson became the first OWSLA-signed artists. This is when I started listening to electronic music, and along with Skrillex, they are still my favorite producers to this day. It is amazing to see all the music they have all made since, and it was an honor to share a stage with one of the artists who started me on this journey,“ he explains. Teaming up with Saint Spicer for his second single was a natural move—Saint and Charles worked together at Warner Brothers music in 2016, when the song was written.

Of the writing experience, Saint says “Charles came to me with a concept for a song that he wanted to have the tone and energy of ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ by Rihanna. After we wrote that song, we spent the summer in LA together and I threw together Upper Echelon with an eye towards having something more sultry.”

Charles is currently living in Los Angeles, California, and working as an EDM producer, while Saint is working as a vocalist and songwriter in Austin, TX. Charles has plans in the works for an additional single release before debuting a full EP in 2020.
